S-composition

......Fascinating in its complexity is the work "S-Composizione" (S-composition)
presented at the Miniartexil of Como in 2000. The reality is presented in clear-cut
intervals, it is examined in an analytical and synthetic way and the whole appears
unified and marked by the nine squares which make up the tapestry. The presence
of black gives a cubist and Malevic-like significance which enhances the
smoothness of the treated gauze, discolouring into soft, harmonious colours of
radiant chromatism. This composition proposes the sense of passing and intersecting flow of the colouristic backgrounds which assume moving
dimensions.

......Marialuisa Sponga uses textile techniques which she reinterprets
and modifies as an alternative graphic instrument. Thus she re-proposes one
of the cruces of Fibre Art, above all now that traditional methods as well as art
in general, are being placed side by side with "off-loom" research (without the use
of the loom), in other words the relationship between ideation and realisation.
With the assemblage and manipulation of yarns and different materials she creates two-dimensional surfaces.
