"Each
time we open a box, we are curious to see the surprise it contains.
Each time we open one of Marialuisa Sponga's boxes that feeling
changes nature: it is keener, and stronger. The surprise in
these cases is always a certainty: the certainty of being fascinated
by her creations. And this is what we like about her. We met
Marialuisa at one of the Miniartextil exhibitions which we organise
and are responsible for each year, and we were able to appreciate,
besides a brilliant artist, also an outstanding woman, an artist
who can imbue both her large and small-scale works with harmony,
colours, and warmth which are typical of her being. Hence, for
years, Marialuisa has been delighting us with her small-scale
works, created especially for our displays, works which we consider
real jewels, rare jewels, so small and delicate, so fragile,
but at the same time endowed with a particular strength: her
strength. Marialuisa: an engrossing woman, a lover of beauty
in all of her expressions." |
